The Roots Concert (SummerStage) ~
On Thursday October 8th, I was given the opportunity to attend a free Roots concert presented by Capital One at the SummerStage all because of my continued loyalty as a customer, although I did have wait in line for over an hour at the Capital One 360 Cafe two weeks prior it was worth the wait! I had an amazing time and tons of fun! Arriving at the concert, I was not burdened with waiting in another long line. The process was quick and easy. The doors opened at six, but the concert didn’t start till seven with Marsha Ambrosius as the opening act. She performed other artists’ songs and finished with a classic “Say Yes” from her Floetry days . It was a solid performance and her vocals were good. The Roots finally came on around eight, and put on a great performance! I was so impressed by their show. Each member of the band did their thing, but especially Black Thought. He was rapping on one strand of breath for so long, I was curious as to whether or not he would need a breathier! That definitely takes hard work and practice to rap like that. I salute him!
The Roots also brought out many people to contribute to this great performance, such as: Talib Kweli (who was the DJ for the event) , Common, Bilal, Cee Lo Green, and Salt-N-Pepa. The crowd went crazy! The show ended at ten, and I was so disappointed because I wanted it to continue; but you can’t get everything you want in life! Thanks Capital One for an amazing experience! What’s in my…you already know the rest! (Ha)
