Bali ~

In continuation from my other articles on Southeast Asia, Bali was the last stop on our tour of this region.  I was very distraught that we didn’t get to stay in this fantastic place longer. We were only there for two days, so we couldn’t soak up all that Bali had to offer. On our first day, we decided to rest from all of the travelings we previously did as well as check out the exclusive incredible resort we were staying at, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali.

We didn’t get go to the Ubud area, see the Tegalalang Rice Terraces, swing on the famous Bali swings that everyone takes pictures on (haha), and numerous other activities, but we were able to do a few things that were relaxing and educational.

I know for sure I’m going back to Bali to spend a week or more there. This Indonesian island does not deserve only two days! It’s a great place to get off the grid and have some peace.

Anyway, I have listed some travel tips and things you can do while in Bali below:

Ngurah Rai International Airport  (Denpasar)

Ngurah Rai is the second busiest airport in Indonesia after Soekarno-Hatta. The airport reminds you of a temple as soon as you arrive. Also, something to note, many people are waiting to help you with your luggage looking for tips. Just be prepared. It could be overwhelming.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bali

The Ritz-Carlton Resort in Bali was like an island within an island. The resort was enormous with its own exclusive beach. It was so big that we had to travel by a cart to get around. You could stay there for days without a care in the world.

It has everything you need in one spot. It was awesome! I would recommend this resort for people who want solitude and couples who are looking for a romantic getaway. You can get married there as well.  In fact, there was a wedding while we were there. The staff also does a firework show to celebrate newlyweds. We really enjoyed our time staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Bali. I would stay there again!

We thought something was wrong with their beach when we arrived, but the staff told us, “It’s just low tide at the moment. It will come back soon!” So, don’t be alarmed like we all were! Haha!

The Beach Grill

Beach Grill is a place to eat inside the resort. We had fish and shrimp pasta. If you go, ask for server Aptha. He will take special care of you!

Morning Yoga

Yoga is a must do while in Bali!  Clear your mind, relax, and enjoy! Each yoga session offered by the resort we chose was very peaceful. Both of our instructors were very nice and helpful, but make sure to request Ibnu (pictured below). He knows what he is doing!

Carmia and I almost died taking this photo! Haha! I’m laughing now, but it was no joking matter at the time! Please be careful when snapping a picture in this area! We were almost swept away into the Indian Ocean!

Sight-Seeing And Things To Do Around Bali

There are many things to see and do in Bali; however, again, our time was limited. I promise I will have much more tips for you when I visit Bali another time, but here are some things we got to do while there:

We walked around to see what the locals do on just an ordinary day, which I would recommend everyone to do, we did some souvenir shopping, saw rice fields, and visited temples.

Souvenir Shopping

Krishna Khas Bali was a good spot for souvenir shopping, but their prices are fixed. So, there is no negotiating; however, the prices are low. But, I would say not to do all your shopping here because you can find cheaper locations. They have many night markets.

Taman Ayun Temple

This Hindu temple is located in the village of Mengwi. It’s a large temple complex with four different sacred divisions, which consist of gardens and encircling pools. The name Taman Ayun translates as “beautiful garden”. Make sure to dress appropriately before your visit — no short dresses or shorts.

Rice Fields

Bali is known for its beautiful rice fields. These are pictures of some random fields along our tour to different temples. I will make sure to see the Tegallalang Rice Terraces next time.

Alas Kedaton Monkey Temple

Alas Kedaton is an animal sanctuary and small forest temple with many free-roaming monkeys. They also have large bats there as well. Be careful with your belongings at this temple. The monkeys are known to take things and run off.

Tanah Lot Temple is a popular tourist attraction. A famous landmark in Bali. People flock to this temple to see the spectacular sunsets with its offshore setting. You will find many tours that include this temple on the itinerary. It’s certainly an activity you should experience in Bali. The dress code is not strict, but you should still dress appropriately.
