Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours ~

I was born and raised in Louisiana, and I have never taken a swamp tour before. I know it’s sad on my part; nonetheless, I finally got a chance to experience one of the wonders of Louisiana; also referred to as “America’s Wetlands” or the “Bayous”: that’s home to crawfish, shrimp, frogs, turtles, snakes, American alligators, and many more species. Wetlands are vital to our ecosystem and must be protected.  In fact, Louisiana has about 40% of all coastal wetlands in the United States.

My friend and I found a deal on Groupon for $9. It was a 90-minute tour of Bayou Aux Carpes with Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours, located in Marrero, Louisiana. We traveled on a cajun-styled boat through the swampland with views of moss-draped cypress trees, other plant life, and plenty of gators! We took lots of pictures, as you will see below.

It was great to gain more insight into the bayous of Louisiana. I think everyone should be a tourist in your home town every once in a while! You never know what new things you may discover!
