Singapore ~
If I had the opportunity, I honestly would move away from the U.S. and stay in Singapore. The modern city-state or island country is so prosperous, beautiful, and clean! It’s a bit expensive because the Singapore dollar is close to the U.S. dollar, but it’s well worth it. Singapore is a very developed and technology advance country that ranks highly in many international rankings. It’s considered one of the “world’s safest countries.” Plus, there are many activities for you to do and explore! Below, I have listed some interesting things you may want to consider if you are planning a trip there, but this is only a snippet of what Singapore has to offer!
Fairmont Singapore
Fairmont Singapore is where my girls and I stayed for three days; it was a continuation of our Southeast Asia travels. The hotel was stylish and accommodating. However, the only thing I didn’t like was the pool area. It was overcrowded, and there was no distinction between the kids and the adult pool. We couldn’t find a seat during the time we wanted to swim. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed our stay there.

Places To Eat And Drink
It’s hard to pinpoint what is Singaporean cuisine because so many ethnic groups have inspired it, but there are a few authentic dishes. The country has a variety of food from other countries as well, so you are bound to find something that suits your needs.
Jumbo Seafood
Located: The RiverWalk By Clarke Quay
One item that Singapore is well-known for is the “Chilli Crab”! It’s their national dish. You can not leave the country without trying one! This dish was delectable! Despite having the name “Chilli”, it’s was not a spicy dish at all. Trust me, you will love it, and Jumbo Seafood is where you can get it! It was recommended to us by our cab driver, and his choice did not disappoint!
The Bird Southern Table And Bar
Located: Marina Bay Sands
Are you in the mood for fried chicken and waffles? Then go right over to The Bird Southern Table And Bar! You will get great tasting southern comfort food. Prices are reasonable.
Istanbul Grill & Cafe
Located: On Baghdad Street In The Arab Street Area.
We tried a Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza) at Istanbul Grill and Cafe, and let me be honest; it did not make a good impression of Turkish food. The Arab Street area has many great restaurants, but this is one I would not recommend. You can find something better.
Nam Nam Noodle Bar
Located: Raffles City Shopping Centre
Nam Nam Noodle Bar serves authentic Vietnamese street food with a modern twist. Their creative drinks and noodle bowls were delicious! They also give you the option to choose what type of noodles you want, and the prices are very affordable.
1837 TWG Tea
Located: Changi Airport Singapore (T3)
TWG Tea was established in Singapore in 2008 and has made a name for itself around the world. It is a wonderful idea for souvenirs for yourself, family, or friends. They have numerous locations around Singapore for you to try their fine harvest teas as well as tea pastries.
Singapore Sling
Located: Raffles Hotel Long Bar (Renovations are going on, so there is a pop-up bar. Should be finished this year!)
Singapore Sling, a gin-based cocktail, was invented in 1915 at Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel by their head bartender, Ngiam Tong Boon; the man pictured below. Since then, it has become a favorite item for the country. This fruity, classic drink will have you wanting more!
Nightlife In Singapore
If you are a real party animal that likes to party wildly, I’m sorry, but Singapore’s nightlife won’t fulfill that dream for you! Haha! Singapore’s nightlife is not comparable to Bangkok’s I would say. It’s more restrained, but you still will have a good time!
Clarke Quay
This historical landmark is located right alongside the Singapore River. Clarke Quay offers waterside restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. This place is excellent for daytime activities as well. It’s open from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. every day.
Level Up
Located: Clarke Quay
Level Up, an arcade bar made for adults, is filled with food, games, and booze to enjoy. There is also a live band. It’s open until 2 a.m. during the week and 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Attica
Located: Clarke Quay
Attica has a snazzy lounge area to kick back with drinks and a great party scene! It’s open until 3 a.m. during the week and 4 a.m on Fridays and Saturdays — closed Sundays and Mondays.
Avry
Located: Raffles Boulevard
This nightclub was pretty cool and had good music. I loved the lighting and the dance floor. However, the club is only open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Marina Bay Sands Singapore
Marina Bay Sands is a place that has everything all into one! It’s a luxury hotel, which has a rooftop infinity pool overlooking Marina Bay, a casino, and a mall with a wide range of shops, restaurants, rooftop bars, and entertainment. There is just so much do in this one location.

Spectra
Spectra is a laser light and water show that takes place at the event plaza of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It is a popular tourist attraction that is free to all. Each show is fifteen minutes long. Times are Sunday-Thursday, 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m.
Things To Do
Again, this is only a small selection on what to do while in Singapore. Although I provide great incite, it always great to do research and prepare your own itinerary to meet your preferences.
Bugis Street Market
If you are looking for souvenirs, then Bugis Street Market is where you need to go. It’s well-known for being one of the cheapest places in Singapore to get all your shopping needs; whether that is souvenirs, food, clothes, electronics, or accessories. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Arab Street
Another location to go exploring is Arab Street where you can immerse yourself into the culture and Muslim community. It’s also a creative hub for hipsters as well. You will see all kinds of street art everywhere.
Gardens By The Bay
Besides Marina Bay Sands, Gardens By The Bay is also why millions of tourists flock to Singapore every year to see this futuristic nature park, and I can finally say I understand why; the gardens are so beautiful and awe-inspiring with so many diverse species and plant life from around the world. Truly an attraction to see!
The park consists of three gardens: Bay South, Bay East, and Bay Central. The most popular and largest of the three is the Bay South Garden. You will find the two cooled conservatories there: The Flower Dome and The Cloud Forest. Also, the highlight of the park, the Supertree Grove. Entry into the overall park is free, but special attractions have a fee.
Here is the website for a breakdown of prices:
